The Ovation One Dance. One Chance. Competition took place from August 15 – December 1, 2011. Dance groups, classes, ensembles, troupes and crews in the U.S., with members ages 13 and up, were invited to submit a 1-3 minute video of a recent dance performance for a chance to win a $10,000 grant for their school PLUS national television exposure.
Over 100 eligible entries were submitted. A panel of accredited dance teachers chose the semi-finalists. The judges in the final round of voting, which determined our winners, were Jacqulyn Buglisi, Artistic Director, Buglisi Dance Theatre; Courtney Galiano, former contestant and all-star for “So You Think You Can Dance” and Rachel S. Moore, Executive Director, American Ballet Theatre.
The Viewer’s Choice Award winner was determined via online voting, which ran from January 18 – February 1, 2012. We received close to 110,000 votes.
The Grand Prize Winner will receive a $10,000 Grant for their school and will be showcased in a 30 second spot on Ovation. All Finalists and the Viewer’s Choice Award winner will receive a $1,000 Grant for their school.
