Apps, Drinks & Trivia
December 6, 2011
Outside of retirement homes and the biannual family gathering, trivia nights have become something of a novelty. Which is why a place like Vodvil in Los Angeles’s Fairfax District is so unique. This early-Sixties styled restaurant is stocked with a full bar and a moderately priced menu of delicious nibbles to full TV dinner-style meals, but the main course at Vodvil is trivia. Tuesdays through Saturdays are game nights with a host on a small stage and a DJ who mans both the music and an array of flat screen TVs arranged to allow you to play along no matter where you are sitting. Teams must be at least two but no more than four people, and answers are written on pieces of paper that are collected at the end of each round. And while the Vodvil experience is mostly about drinking, eating and showing off random pop trivia knowledge, winning does matter. Teams with the most correct answers receive a special Vodvil token per round. Win enough games and you have the chits to take home magic decks of playing cards and exotic candies like Butterfinger from a designated vending machine near the bathrooms. Who knew trivia could be as fun as a night out on the town?
