April was a great month for new music. In fact, the list of solid releases is so long you’d be overwhelmed just reading through them. So we’ve whittled it down to a couple of our favorite new albums and a reissue you need to get your mitts on.
Rebirth of New Orleans, Rebirth Brass Band
Sounds like
Mardi Gras, but without the arrhythmic splatter of frat boy vomit.
The Story
If you don’t have at least one good brass band album in your music collection, then you’re depriving yourself of one of life’s fundamental joys. (Hell, I’m dancing and juggling three drinks as I type this). You could never claim that just one band is the sound of New Orleans, but for the past 28 years Rebirth Brass Band has been a very important part of it–while also carving out their own adjunct style. You can listen to the entire album here and pick it up over here.
Why you should check it out
You’d have to be dead inside not to enjoy this.
