Phoning In Your Fashion

October 31, 2011

In fashion, you’re either in or you’re out.  But you don’t need to fear Heidi Klum’s warning with the new slew of fashion apps.  Whether you need a wardrobe update, the best deals or an opinion of how you really look in that dressing room mirror, these style apps will keep you IN every season:

ShopStyle – iPhone (free)

ShopStyle.com (“the online equivalent of browsing the aisles of the world’s most fabulous store”) has launched their ShopStyle app, which features shopping, browsing, style tips, fashion news and more importantly, sale alerts.  It even allows you to purchase directly from the retailer. It doesn’t get any easier.

Stylebook – iPhone ($3.99)

Need to customize and organize your own closet?  The Stylebook app lets you create your own magazine-style looks for yourself, catalog your closet and even re-size and edit your images to layer and create outfits.  This is some serious fashionista technology.

Gilt on the Go – iPhone/Android/Blackberry (free)

Gilt.com makes luxury shopping at sale prices practically effortless.  By downloading the Gilt on the Go app, you get “Gilt membership” which invites you to private sales (up to 70%) on top brands. You’ll no longer need deal with Black Friday with this app in your hand.

Fashism Mobile – iPhone/Android (free)

You’ll never stand alone in a dressing room wondering if you should buy that skirt again. Based on the concept behind Fashism.com, the Fashism app lets you send a quick photo and their community who will give you honest opinions. Just be prepared for absolute honesty.

chicFeed – iPhone (free)

Rather than surfing through top fashion blogs to find out what’s new and hip, chicfeed does it for you.  You can see greats photos from top blogs like The Sartorialist, Face Hunter and LookBook with just the swipe of a finger.

Claudia Maittlen-Harris is a writer and comedian based in Los Angeles. She is the co-creator of the how-not-to dating/relationship blog, The Zeros Before the One.
